
Malawi’s growth has accelerated while inflation has moderated in recent years. On account of this economic and fiscal consolidation, Malawi remains one of the few countries to have come out of the global financial and economic crisis relatively unscathed.
The Economic and Fiscal Policy Statement (EFPS) is issued in fulfilment of section 14 of the Public Finance Management Act (2003). The EFPS seeks to inform and share with various stakeholders economic and fiscal policies that will anchor the economy over the short to medium term. The EFPS also specifies broad strategic priorities by which Government will be guided in preparing budget estimates for the impending fiscal year.
