DirectorI was born on 24th March 1976 in Blantyre, Malawi. I am currently the Acting Director in the Revenue Policy Division at the Ministry of Finance. I joined the Team at the Ministry of Finance in August 2010 after serving in the Malawi Revenue Authority as an Officer at different levels since March 2002 for a period of eight years.

I was recruited by the Malawi Revenue Authority as a Revenue Officer in the Customs and Excise Division in the Technical Department which is considered the think-tank for the Division. I was promoted to Senior Revenue Officer in 2006 and pioneered the establishment of the International Relations Office in the Customs and Excise Division which looked at issues relating to cooperation with other international institutions such as the World Customs Organization, COMESA and SADC among others. As Head of the International Relations Office from May 2006 to July 2009, I was also tasked to work with the MRA Reforms and Modernisation Office responsible for Customs Reforms where I worked in close contact with Teams from other Divisions in MRA including the IMFon their various Missions to Malawi.

In August 2009, I was appointed as MRA Reforms and Modernisation Programme Manager where I managed and led a Team which prepared the first MRA Reforms and Modernisation Plan. I worked in this office for one year until end July 2010 when I was called for duty at the Ministry of Finance.

I have also worked for Pride Africa Malawi as a Credit Officer from December 2001 to February 2002 after working with People’s Trading Centre Malawi Limited as a Management Trainee from November 2000 to November 2001 after graduating from College in 2000.

I am a holder of a Bachelors of Social Sciences Degree with a bias in Economics from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College obtained in April 2000. Overtime, I have been trained in different specialized fields which includes; Micro-finance, Customs Techniques, International Taxation, and Trade Policy under the WTO among others. I am currently working on finalizing my MBA with the University of Malawi, Polytechnic.

Personally, I look forward to getting new challenges in life so that I am able to deliver according to my potential and help others to succeed. The Team in Revenue Policy Division exists to provide policy guidance through design of effective and efficient systems that can generate adequate public resources to meet Government financial obligations. Our scope of work involves monitoring revenue performance for tax and non-tax sources, revenue analysis and forecasting including tax expenditure analysis.
