Government has welcomed the European Union’s 2026 Annual Action Plan, which will provide a €143 million investment package to support Malawi’s long-term economic transformation.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony in Lilongwe, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha said the investment aligns with Malawi Vision 2063 and the Malawi 2063 First 10-Year Implementation Plan.
The package will support agriculture, energy, education and skills development, including the €35 million AgriCatalyst Malawi Programme, the €125 million Malawi Energy Efficiency Enhancement Programme and the €68 million EYES of Malawi Programme.
Mwanamvekha said the programmes will help boost agricultural productivity, improve energy reliability, create jobs and equip young people with skills needed to drive economic growth.
He expressed government’s gratitude to the EU, European Investment Bank and other Team Europe partners for their continued support, while reaffirming government’s commitment to accountability, transparency and results.
