Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralization Hon. Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha MP has called for stronger partnerships between Government, the private sector, development partners and communities to mobilise sustainable financing for infrastructure development in Malawi.

Speaking as Guest of Honour last night at the Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) Financing Forum at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, Mwanamvekha said infrastructure is critical to achieving the Malawi 2063 and First 10-Year Implementation Plan (MIP-1) goals.

Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralization Hon Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha MP has hailed the partnership between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Centenary Bank Malawi, saying it will help expand financial inclusion and access to capital for Malawians.

Speaking at the official launch at BICC in Lilongwe, Mwanamvekha said EIB is providing €7.5 million (about MK15.6 billion) through Centenary Bank to support small agricultural businesses and farmers, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, women and youth empowerment.

Seoul - Korea

Malawi’s finance team is working overtime in Seoul—turning the KOAFEC conference into a deal-making hub for grants, investment and technical support.

Finance Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha has met with AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah and South Korea’s Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Jinsung Moon to push for resources to boost Malawi’s budget.

“The meeting has offered us an opportunity to engage further with the Bank but also the Korean government.

The Honourable Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, MP, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, yesterday commended officers of the Malawi Revenue Authority at the Dedza Border for their professionalism, commitment and for consistently meeting revenue collection targets.

The Minister made the remarks during a working visit to the border post. The purpose of the visit was to appreciate the daily challenges faced by staff and to find practical solutions to improve service delivery.
