The meeting, held at Capital Hill in Lilongwe, focused on the role of the macadamia industry in supporting Malawi’s economy through increased exports, investment and value addition.
Briefing the minister, Giannakis outlined recent developments in the sector and highlighted how existing policies and legislation continue to shape industry growth. He emphasized the need for a supportive policy environment to unlock the full potential of macadamia production and exports.

Mwanamvekha commended the association for its contribution to the country’s foreign exchange earnings and assured the industry of continued government support under the foresighted leadership of President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika. He said government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for export-oriented sectors to thrive.

Both parties agreed that strengthening collaboration between government and the private sector will be critical in scaling up production, improving value addition and increasing export revenues, positioning macadamia as one of Malawi’s key foreign exchange earners.
